   Module name: PETRA.MDL
   Module I.D.: PTRA
   Module type: Sample output module
   Author: Dirk Haun @ WI2
   Status: Freeware
   Version No: 0.01
   Version date: 23.08.1995
Purpose: Plays sound samples via the 'Petra' sample player.

Description:

This module plays sound samples. For this it needs the 'Petra' program
by Christian Limpach and Christoph Peus (Petra V1.1 is recommended, as
it also gets along with CPUs >68000).

Petra prevents being installed on computers with DMA sound (where it is,
in fact, also superfluous) as well as on computers with TOS <1.04 if no
FSEL-cookie exists (a limitation caused by the 'Paula' program for which
Petra was originally intended).

Parameter dialogue:

The module's 'Parameter' dialogue shows the four frequencies that Petra
can use for playout. These frequencies can be altered with the 'Setter'
program that is supplied with Petra.

If the 'Boost' button is active (crossed), Petra will play the samples
louder, but with somewhat poorer quality.

Notes:

This sample output module differs a little from the norm, due to the
functions in Petra:
- All samples are re-calculated to 16 bits (Petra only handles samples
with 10 and 16 bits). The module itself reserves mwemory for this.
- The module cannot ascertain exactly when a sample has ended, and is
also unable to stop playing a sample immediately (due to the division
of a sample into 'frames', which are always played complete by Petra).
It is therefore theoretically possible that the module releases its
memory reservation while the sample is still running ...

Standard disclaimer:

This module fulfils its objects for me, which does not mean that
it will do this everywhere. So should one of these modules do
something unexpected, I cannot be held responsible for any sort
of damage caused thereby (whatever it may be) -- you use it at
your own risk.
